MASTER OF ENGINEERING IN MECHATRONICS
RESEARCH LINE

The Program's lines of research are based on two premises. Firstly, the Department of Engineering and Technology of Universidad Autónoma del Carmen has professors/researchers with academic profiles in the disciplines of Automated Control, Mechatronics, Instrumentation and Process Control, Robotics and Vision, Computing and Artificial Intelligence. Professors/researchers are part of Academic Bodies where Research Line is pursued on Neurodiffuse Control, Linear and Nonlinear Control, Flaw Diagnosis in Dynamic Systems, Signal Processing, Images and Video, Wireless Telecommunications and Fiber Optics, Scientific and Bioinspired Computation. These profiles provide the Basic Academic Core with the academic operation capacity of the Program.

Secondly, the industry found in the region (on land and offshore of the Gulf of Mexico) demands specialized professionals for priority areas in the oil industry and related services. In addition, considering the changes visualized in the recently Energy Reform, there will be a short-term demand for specialized professionals in mechatronics (automation and robotics, autonomous unmanned systems, telecontrol, coordination and synchronization).

Considering both premises and the compatibility of the objectives of the curriculum, the following Research Lines are defined:

  1. Control of mechatronic systems. This Research Line aims at the analysis and modeling of mechatronic systems and the development and application of control algorithms for those systems.
  2. Unmanned autonomous systems. This Research Line aims at the analysis, modeling, development and implementation of autonomous systems (aerial, surface, underwater) and the application of tele-operation techniques to address problems of exploration and exploitation of renewable resources.

Training of master's students is organized in accordance with institutional graduate policies that revolve around curricular flexibility with a strong supplement of tutors. This program will allow students to carry out their research work in an optimal way, since its academic structure and infrastructure are based on the capacity and quality of the participating professors-researchers in the program.
